Nexium is used to treat anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and other types of eating disorders, and to help decrease the body weight of children who have this condition. Nexium can also be used to help treat symptoms of bulimia in adults. It can help reduce the amount of fat in the abdomen (abdominal pain). It can also help reduce the amount of fat in the fat deposits (fatty, oily, and fried). Nexium is usually given every 8 to 12 hours, but this should be done once or twice a day. Nexium is also used for other purposes as determined by a doctor.
Nexium should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. Nexium may cause a rebound in the amount of body weight you have gained. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Do not take the dose more often than prescribed. Nexium may cause serious side effects including:
Nexium should not be taken with alcohol, as this can increase the amount of the drug in the body. Always tell your doctor if you have taken any other drugs.
Do not give the drug to a child younger than 2 years old without a doctor's recommendation. It can cause serious damage to the child.
Nexium can be taken with or without food. Follow the instructions from your doctor. Do not take more than 1 dose in 24 hours. Tell your doctor if you take more than the recommended dose.
You should not use Nexium if you are taking antacids, calcium supplements, aluminum-containing antacids, iron preparations, calcium-containing foods, or laxatives. Use other anti-diarrhea medications as directed by your doctor.

Poisons

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.
